This module adopts a linguistic approach to the psychological processes underlying the production and comprehension of macro-structural representations in multilingual and monolingual children. Students are presented with a survey of theoretical perspectives and contemporary empirical studies. The course covers central topics in text production and comprehension with the aim of demonstrating how theoretical models and diverse experimental methodologies are used to shed light on the representations and processes that children use to comprehend and produce longer stretches of spoken, signed or written language.
