The primary aim of the course is to instil in the student an awareness of the benefit of architectural thinking. Theory does not need to be about 'theorising' in an abstract sense alone. It should be seen as the catalyst for a cerebral engagement in the reasons why architects do what they do, that is, providing the catalysts a meaningful living environments for people. It is also important for students to understand that theory could be the 'coat-hanger' from which other aspects of design such as construction, bio-climatic design, etc could hang. Finally, the module aims to create an initial awareness of the integrated complexity of architecture.
